Description

Endrin (Rin) was a son of an old floating ship* captain. He was always treated without any reverence, almost violence, disregard for sure. His father thought of him as a burden - he wasn't good with ship , sails, any mechanics, he's good side was only being tranquil.
But, one day, after disembarking and setting sails for the next cloud-bay, an illness gripped his father. Crew was sour. They felt through their skin, their senses, the upcoming changes of weather, the yet-to-come storm. At the same time Endrin was in awe of an old sword he found on a scrapyard. He polished it and mused the idea of how much its light blue glim depicts the clear summer sky.
Two days later, the storm caught them. They had no time for anything, just stood where they were and, if they were lucky, gripped a steady piece of a ship, avoiding falling off.
Having heard the noises on the deck, Rin ran up. The moment he set his foot on the wooden floor, the gush of a wind swept him off his feeet and pushed on the bow of ship. Barely, he managed to stand.
The image of immense and mighty clouds, the ones he had never ever seen, crippled him. Yet, he was still holding a sword. Then an idea crossed his mind. He held his hand with a sword straight, cutting the blow of the wind in half.
Suddenly, the clouds started to separate, letting the ship through a narrow passage.

The figure in the middle is the spirit... Of the sword? Or of the clouds, wind, storm? Try to imagine.

* floating ships were invented as a follow-up of gravitation partly-controlling devices ; the plot takes place several centuries after melting of the glaciers - the Earth still holds major cities, however, they are overcrowded and most people are living in air cities

PS Sorry for any mistakes in my English. I had no time for proof-reading (though I promise to do it later). . . And I beg your pardon for making rather science fantasy than the "true" science fiction...
